Thursday, 1/12/12 - S'mores Party

Our last night at the hospital we held a s'mores party for the children at the orphanage. Us girls walked to the orphanage together and got a little silly. We were greeted at the orphanage by all the children singing, dancing and clapping for us. Most of the team hadn't even been to the orphanage yet so we all visited the houses. Then the older children had other performances prepared for us. They even had benches set out for us. After all of the performances were over we moved to the back of the orphanage and we all danced around the bonfire. As the bonfire was winding down we helped the children roast their marshmellows. After all of those festivities our team was treated to an amazing dinner, with a beautiful table setting, overlooking the beautiful Rwandan countryside, and dined with orphanage personnel and other volunteers staying at the orphanage. An unforgettable night! BTW, if you've never tried fried cassava...so yummy!
